Treatment for CIN
Treatment for CIN is usually performed in the clinic but about 10% of the time the woman needs a general anaesthetic either because the area that needs treating is too large or because a woman finds it too uncomfortable.

Treatment can be in the form of excising a piece of tissue from the cervix or destroying it. Methods of destroying pieces of tissue include LASER ablation, diathermy, and cold coagulation. Methods of excising a piece of tissue include Loop cone biopsies (LLETZ, LEEP), cold knife cone biopsies, and LASER cone biopsies.

It is usually for a doctor to advise against intercourse for four weeks after treatment to the cervix.
