Recurrent cervix cancer
If cervix cancer comes back it usually
does so early. Eighty percent of
recurrences occur in the first two years
after treatment.
The prognosis after a
recurrence is poor. Some women have one
site of recurrence in the the centre of
their pelvis and these women may be
amenable to a very radical operation
called exenteration. This is successful
50% of the time.
Other times treatment
is in the form of palliative
chemotherapy.
