This website is designed to give
information on cervical cancer. Areas
covered include the aetiology,
prevention, and treatment. The website
is designed for information only. Women
in cervical cancer prevention programmes
or those with cervical cancer should
take the advice of the professional
responsible for their care.
UK Cancer Units:
In the UK, a cancer unit is normally the
first point of referral for a patient
before cervical cancer is diagnosed. A
woman might be referred with an abnormal
smear (Pap) test, or with abnormal
vaginal bleeding. With the exception of
very early stage cervical cancers (stage
1ai), a woman should be referred to a
cancer centre for the management of
cervical cancer once the diagnosis is
made.
UK
Cancer Centres:
In the UK, cervical cancer should be
managed in a designated gynaecological
cancer centre.
